SPOM Passing Certificate: How to Check and Download Your Status

There is no marksheet and no rank. What you get is a pass status, it is permanent, and here is where to find and keep evidence of it.

Verify current portal functions on the SPMT portal

Where your status lives

Your qualification status for each module sits on the SPMT portal at spmt.icai.org, the same portal where you booked the test.

1

Log in with your SSP credentials

There is no separate login for the SPMT portal.

2

Open your dashboard

Your bookings are listed here, with the result status shown against each one.

3

Download or save what is available

Whatever the portal makes available against a completed module, save a copy for your own records.

No announcement, no result date

Because tests run continuously rather than in fixed examination cycles, there is no announced result date and no public declaration. Check your dashboard rather than waiting for a notification.

What form the result takes

This is where SPOM differs most sharply from every other ICAI examination you have taken.

What you might expectWhat SPOM actually gives
A marksheet with your scoreA pass or fail status
A rank or merit positionNone — there is no merit list
Subject-wise marksNot applicable
Exemptions carried forwardNone arise from these modules
Marks counting towards CA FinalNot aggregated with the Final at all

A candidate scoring 50 percent or above is declared to have passed that module. Below that, fail, with re-registration and a fresh fee required.

Why this design makes sense

The modules are qualifying rather than competitive. Their purpose is to confirm you have covered the material, not to rank you against other candidates. Since the marks were never going to count towards your Final aggregate, a detailed marksheet would serve no function.

Why a pass is permanent

Once you are declared to have passed a module, that status is permanent. Specifically:

  • You never attempt that module again.
  • The pass does not lapse with time.
  • It is unaffected by failing another module.
  • It is unaffected by how many CA Final attempts you take afterwards.

This matters practically. If you clear Set D early in your articleship and then take three years to reach your Final attempt, that Set D pass is still valid. There is no shelf life to worry about.

Keeping your own record

Even though ICAI holds the record internally, keep your own. It costs nothing and saves considerable trouble if a discrepancy ever arises.

What to save, and when

As soon as each module shows as passed, take a screenshot of the dashboard entry and download whatever document the portal makes available. Store them together, named by module. Do this at the time — retrieving old records months later, after portal changes, is considerably harder than saving them on the day.

A simple approach:

  • One folder, four files, named by module.
  • Include the date you passed each one.
  • Keep the booking confirmation alongside it.
  • Store it somewhere you will still find it in two years.

What you need for the CA Final

Qualification is recorded in ICAI’s own records against your student registration. Eligibility for the CA Final examination is therefore verified internally rather than by you submitting certificates.

The two points at which the modules gate your progress:

MilestoneWhat must be qualified
Appearing for the CA Final examinationAll applicable modules
Applying for membershipSet A and Set B, at minimum

Set A and Set B must be qualified before applying for membership, and this applies even to candidates who received relaxations on Set C and Set D under transitional arrangements.

If your status is wrong

Occasionally a status does not reflect correctly. If that happens:

  • Check you are looking at the right booking. If you sat multiple modules, each has its own entry.
  • Allow time for updates. Status changes are not always instantaneous.
  • Check for portal maintenance. ICAI periodically takes the portal offline for upgradation.
  • Contact the SPMT helpdesk with your student registration number, the module concerned, and details of the booking.
A withheld status is different from a fail

Results may be withheld where unfair means are suspected, and a candidate in that position cannot take the same test until the matter is resolved. If your status shows as withheld, take it up with the examination department directly rather than attempting to rebook.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I check my SPOM qualification status?

On the SPMT portal at spmt.icai.org, on your dashboard, logging in with SSP credentials.

Is there a marksheet?

No. The result is pass or fail, with no score, grade or rank.

Does my pass expire?

No. A pass status is permanent.

Do I need to submit anything for CA Final eligibility?

Qualification is recorded in ICAI’s records against your registration, so it is verified internally. Keep your own copy as a precaution regardless.

Is there a merit list or rank?

No. The modules are qualifying rather than competitive.

Do the marks appear anywhere on my CA records?

The qualification status is recorded, but the marks are not aggregated with your Final result and there is no marksheet.

My status is not showing correctly. What do I do?

Contact the SPMT helpdesk with your registration number and booking details. Having your own saved record makes this much easier to resolve.

Check before you act

Portal functions and the form in which qualification is evidenced may change as ICAI updates its systems. Confirm the current position on the SPMT portal.
